Is overdone and over-hyped! I get it, though. I was a sucker for it at first, as well. But, nowadays, my personal reply to customers (in my head, anyway. I can't exactly act this way at work since it's my job to sell the hell out of stuff!) and friends talking about killing zombies in a game or watching a zombie flick is usually *shrug* "Okay. Sure." The concept is still fun, but after awhile, a head hanging off some dead dude's shoulder or a broken foot being walked on with a ghastly crunch, is becoming very cliche!
I do love some series though for their innovation when it comes to kills and gross factors; High School of the Dead (Anime), Walking Dead (TV), Red Dead Redemption (Game) and Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 (Game). These series kind of redefined their genres for me. For example, High School of the Dead combines my love of anime factors (big boobed heroines, crazy plot-points & clearly twisted side-characters) with the real emotion of relationships and high school anxieties. Intro incoming:
Overall, zombies will forever be a part of our lore, but if we over-market it, the experience can die quickly. (No pun intended.)
